This weekend we'll do a practice run on the actual Frostbite Festival 10-mile course. For anyone who is NOT planning to run the Jingle Bell 5k, we'll meet at FitClub West at 7 am on SATURDAY. Jingle Bell runners are planning to run on SUNDAY, and I'm assuming they will want to get started at 7 am as well.
All you Sunday runners are welcome to debate the starting time in the Comments area.
Here's a link to a map of the course: http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=158810
Thanks to Anne Baker and Duane Wilson, there will be water and Gatorade at two spots on the course on both days. One spot is just west of the Washington-Bradfordton intersection; the other spot is in front of the Wilson mansion. Thank you!
I realize that long-range weather forecasts aren't worth much, but it should be dry and mostly clear Saturday morning with the temperature in the high 30s. Sounds like PERFECT conditions for practicing the Frostbite!

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to start at 6:30am on Sunday.......if there is anyone running that day? I have somewhere to be at 9am and it would work better if I could start earlier.
Mara, I will be there around 6:30 Sunday. I am planning on running (easy) Jingle Bell on Saturday and then Frostbite course on Sunday. I was out of town last weekend.
That would be great! Will you run EASY on Sunday? I just want to make sure I can finish and I can't go as fast as you!!
I am planning on going out easy on Sunday just to get through the 10 miles. I took off 5 days last week, so I need to get back into slowly.
It's a good idea to take this one a little slow, especially if you've never seen the 10-mile course. It deserves respect.
I may even do 9:30-10min pace depending on how I feel. I have not run the course before and I am planning on running the Jingle Bell pretty hard! I look forward to Sunday.
Y'all come on out for the Saturday Social this weekend at Corkscrew $3 glasses of wine and imported beers by the bottle, 7-9 pm.
See you there!
