Snow Big Deal

It was really snow big deal running the Lost Bridge Trail this morning. The snow that fell during the run was light and the snow underfoot wasn't very slick.

But where was everyone? Home in bed, all warm and dry?

Bill Stokes (aka Rocky) didn't stay home. Taking care of a calf injury, Bill volunteered to set up a water stop for us, AND he scrawled some inspirational messages in the snow along the trail. A HUGE thank you to you, Rock!

For those of us where were there, we'll spend the next few days attempting to convince friends and family that it wasn't that bad and that we're NOT that crazy . . . and good luck with that!

It was a great run, good practice for the Half Wits. And I had no idea that the east side Panera has a working fireplace!

But there's someone crazier than the Frost Toes out there, did anyone see the bicycle tracks on the trail? And not wide (safe) mountain bike tire tracks...skinny little road bike tracks!

My heart was ready to run, but the rest of my body is currently on the losing side of a nasty cold. I woke up, put on three layers of running attire, laced up shoes, checked my mp3 battery, turned on coffee, hawked up a huge loogey, lost consciousness, regained balance, took off shoes, running attire, popped DayQuil. Nope, not today. Sorry Mara, Judy. I thought I could beat it. On the plus side, I have that hard livin', back of the bar room, Janis Joplin voice going on for a day or so. Cool.

Catch you guys next week for sure. Give me a few days to get the good drugs from Mexico and I'll be back and ready to rumble.

Hey Jenni,

While you've got the voice goin' on, could you record Down On Me, Mercedes Benz or even Me and Bobby McGee and send them along?

We could post them on the blog for everyone to enjoy. LOL!

Hope you get to feelin' better. BTW, Mara was there but Judy was a no-show . . . !

Judy called me yesterday morning and actually talked me out of coming out. What a pal. She hit the treadmill, I hit couch.

THE J GIRLS took a pass on running?

I'm in complete shock here. The world no longer makes sense . . .

The other J girls failed to show as well . . .

I took a pass. Judy ran, in place.

Barry, if you're trying to make me feel MORE sad about missing out on all the fun, it's working! Way to kick me when I'm weak and defenseless! I think its harder to skip a run when you should than when you can't, like for injury or emergency or other obligations. Funny, I was supposed to be taking this month off from running and here I am crying cuz I missed a 10 miler. Must be love.

Jenni, OF COURSE I'm gonna kick you when you're weak and defenseless. If I tried this when you're at full strength, you'd kick my butt! LOL!

Im a lover, not a fighter. The most you're likely to get from me is a stern finger shaking. And maybe a gingerbread boy with its head bit off.

Glad you guys had a good run in the snow! Sorry I didn't make it, stayed out too late Friday night. How many miles are you planning for the next run?

I'd like to do anywhere from 9-12, and conditions should be good on Saturday. A general warming trend is predicted (at least, on Sunday afternoon that's the prediction).

Any other thoughts?

Barry:

I was thinking about running the 12 Ks of Christmas (7.4 miles) this Saturday from Panera West. You said you would like to run 9-12, but maybe you could add on a couple miles to this run. Or just decide that 12 K is enough!

I have come up with a route through Tara Hill to Washington Park then back over to Chatham Road and back across Iles. And maybe someone could have hot chocolate at a hydration stop in Washington Park (if they get up early enough!).

Whatcha think?

The 12 Ks of Christmas--I LOVE IT!

I don't know about hot chocolate, but I could probably set up a water stop in Wash Park.

You have a link to the route?

So when is the next Saturday run? I will admit it's tough crawling out of a nice warm bed to go for a run, but hey everyone needs a challenge and I need to step up to the plate. Sorry for being such a wimp guys. I respect you. Barb M.

Em:

I cannot take full credit for the 12 Ks theme. I saw a race by this name on some calendar and thought it was great.

Barry:

Here's a link to the route. I also plan to put it on the Half Wits blog and send out an e-mail.
Don't worry about Washington Park...I'll have it covered!
