Circle the Date!

Saturday, September 29 will be the first workout for the Frost Toes! We'll gather at Panera West at 7 am for an easy 5 mile run. I'll have the full training schedule printed for you to take home and frame or just hang on the fridge (actually, the freezer door is more appropriate for the Frost Toes schedule).

We warmly encourage ALL Abe's Army graduates to take their training to the next level by coming out and running with the Frost Toes. You did the training necessary to finish a challenging 10k, why not try a challenging 10 mile?

Circle the date on your calendar, log the date into your Blackberry, do whatever it takes to remind yourself to be at Panera West at 7 am September 29. We can get several weeks in before the frost forms on our toes!

Hi,

I was wondering if the Frost Toes training included week night runs or just Saturday runs?!? Trying to plan ahead :)

Thanks!

Yes, we're going to try to coordinate group runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. We may have to depend on Frost Toes "stepping up" to help lead those sessions. My fall evenings are starting to get a little booked up.

I'll be posting the full schedule sometime after Labor Day.

Hey Barry - now that I'll be a springfieldian (or whatever....), I can help with T/Th grup runs - let me know what you need - I remember a few really baaaaaad, but good hill workouts! Bring on the blinky lights and lets get this party started!

Thanks, MaryThon!

Dwayne said he should be able to make all the Tuesday/Thursday evening runs. But if you wanna pass along the details of your torture sessions--I mean, hill workouts--please do!

Get ready to get your frost on!

How About "Frost Toes" balaclavas (you know, those ninja-hood things)?

Sorry, Anne, but I ain't wearin' nothin' with a hood in Washington Park ever!

But you go right ahead if you'd like. Ninja Anne!

hey Anne - I see your line of thinking - what about headbands for winter? You're our graphic artist!

Good point, Barry. We might get maced or worse...:=O

Frost Toes headbands, OTOH, might be a safe alternative. Do we want to pursue something like this? It might even be something that could be passed out at the race, depending on the budget. OK, enough fun stuff, I HAVE to get some work done today!

Is there a speed requirement to join the training group? I'm interested as a soon-to-be Abe's Army grad, but feel a bit nervous that the pace will be out of my league.

No need to worry about the pace of the group. I think we have all learned through our various group training plans (Army, Half Wits, etc...) that there are always people you can find at your own pace. Sometimes we get strung out a little during a run, but there is always people before, at water stops, and afterwards. The group dynamic does wonders to get people through the training! Come out and join us!

To echo Tim's comment a little, please don't think for a minute that you may be too slow to be a Frost Toe. We will have slow runners--heck, I'M a slow runner! The goal of this group is to prepare people to run, and finish, the Frostbite Festival 10-mile race. We don't care what your time for the race is; we care that you cross the finish line.

Then we all celebrate, because we've been there with you. No matter how slow or fast you are.

See you in September!

To the Abe's grad ---

I'm in and plan to run at an 11:30 pace, slower if it's slippery and icy. Come on out!!!!
